Pac-Man Card Match
About the Game
Pac-Man (stylized as PAC-MAN) is an arcade game created by Toru Iwatani (1955–) for Namco, first launched in Japan as PUCKMAN back in May 1980. Midway Games handled its release in the United States starting October 1980, a time when top arcade hits were space shooters like Galaxian and Asteroids. Pac-Man set the standard for maze chase games and remains a classic in video game history and an icon of 1980s pop culture. Some estimates from 1982 suggest a gender split among players; about 60% of Pac-Man fans were women, while 90% of those playing space shoot-'em-up Omega Race were men.
